Roleplay - 19th October

Lancaster slashes at the cape cobra but at the same time the snake lunges at him. Luckily Lancaster reacted just in time to get out of the cobra's striking range. He lunges at the snake and takes a chunk out its hood then leaps back before the cobra could get a chance to retaliate. He side steps to the cape cobra's side where he continues to mob and make spit calls at it.

Linda mobs the snake. She strikes, biting at the serpent, and quickly backs away before it can react. The snake lunges again and she backs away, but feels something on her left side. She ignores it for now and keeps mobbing, slowly but surely driving the snake off.

Lancaster lunges at the cobra and leaves a deep nasty bite wound in its side. The cobra hisses and strikes in Lancaster's direction but he's fast on his feet and avoids the deadly assault. He bobs his head growling then takes a bite at the cobra's tail. The cobra strikes at Lancaster again in retaliation but once again he dodges and continues attacking the snake until it is scent packing.

Linda strikes and bites the snake's tail. The snake gives up and starts retreating away from the burrow.

Lancaster mobs and spits at the cape cobra as it started to retreat. He cautiously follows it with his tail raised straight and stiff in the air, making sure the cape cobra slithers as far away as possible from the pup filled burrow.

Linda follows the serpent, determined to make sure no other pups die today. She starts to get a little light-headed as she does so.

Lancaster notices Linda begining to act strange and peeps with concern (Are you alright?)

Linda slows to a trot as the snake retreats for good. She hears Lancaster's question and suddenly remembers feeling something as the snake attacked. She looks at her side and notices a small scrape left by the snake's fang.

Lancaster sees the scratch on Linda's side and becomes worried. If she had gotten vemon into her system not only will her life be at stake but her unborn litter could also be in danger.

Linda starts heading back to the burrow. There isn't enough venom to kill or severely injure her, but what about her litter? She starts getting worried. She'd be devastated if she loses her pups before they're even born.

Lancaster follows Linda back to the burrow. He decides to monitor her to see if she starts to react severely to the cobra's vemon. He frowns thinking about what the consequences could be for her unborn pups.

Linda starts getting a little bit dizzy. She needs to rest. She lays down at the burrow entrance. Buckeye's newborn pups need to be fed, and she's the only adult female here. She decides to head into the burrow.

Lancaster lets out a worried peep. He remembers not to long ago that Josephine had just gotten over a severe cape cobra bite. It terrified him to see her suffering from the effects of the vemon. He hopes not to experiance the same senario with Linda but this time more than just one meerkat's life is in danger. He worries what could happen to her unborn litter as well. Lancaster sees Linda head below ground to rest. He decides to stay above ground to continue gaurding the burrow entrance. After the encounter with the cape cobra he's on edge.

Linda goes to the pups and lays down, tending to them and licking them so they stay warm. Very little venom had entered her system, only enough to make her dizzy, light-headed, and maybe weaken her for the rest of the day, by she wasn't worried about herself. Her unborn pups could end up dead as a result of her not being more careful. She closes her eyes and rests. Now it's a selfish thing to set aside her own safety.

Luna looks around. She continues to forage with the group, but knows that she will not be allowed to sleep in the same burrow again. After foraging she'll head out on her own, live the life of an evictee.

Maylene's pregnant belly was still hardly noticable, but had grown a little and to make everyone know that killing Buckeye's pups wasn't on her mind she had stayed as far away from the burrow as possible, but still close to the group.

Keeko walked alongside Buckeye, unaware that there had been a snake at the burrow.
Golly Gosh snorted. He could have taken on that snake!

ooc- A little? Maylene's litter is due in about three weeks, which is around 3/5 of the way through. It's going to be more than just barely noticeable by everyone else.

ic- Linda lays her head down and closes her eyes. Maybe getting some sleep will help her. She slowly dozes off, the venom starting to give her a head ache.

Lancaster smiles at Golly Gosh. He believes he could've given the cape cobra a run for its money but he still felt it would've just been too risky for the pups to get involved. With all that's been happening today, the last thing Buckeye would need is have another young member of the group to be killed. Lancaster stays firmly up on his hind legs keeping a stern eye out for danger. He also watches the older pups at the same time.

Tank crosses into Willows territory with his head hung low in disappointment. Things didn't go well at the Oreos. He went with the right roving tactics of taking his time and staying hidden but the wind was working against him also the group was just too on edge to tolerate a rover around so instead of deciding to give it another try he just decided to leave Oreos territory but he isn't yet ready to return home. He still wants to keep roving. Tank makes his way towards Tiny Kats territory hoping to get lucky there.

ooc- Not really no Meyerm. It's not a big bump, but it can only be noticed when Maylene is standing on her hind feet. However, it also seen when she isn't standing, but not much.

After grabbing a scorpion that Maylene had quickly devoured it and then found a small beetle and quickly devoured that one as well. Then she went on sentry duty.

ooc: Meyerm is right. The group should be able to notice Maylene's pregnancy by now. I read in the flower book that by 4 weeks a female's pregnancy can be easily distinguished.

bic: Unaware of his brother Tank's failed roving mission at the Oreos, Lancaster continues to stay alert to everything around him. He's spooked by a sudden noise and looks around frantically. Could it be another predator? Luckily it turns out to be just a passing eland. Nothing to be concerned about.

ooc- Like I said. It's only really noticable when she's standing up and not laying down because she's trying to let Buckeye know that she's not out there to kill her pups.

Unaware of the events unfolding at the burrow, Buckeye has finished foraging and is now keeping an eye on her subordinates. She knows that many are pregnant, and after Alice's death, she fears the worst.

Verniece keeps low and away from Buckeye, fearing punishment.

Lancaster watches the eland leave the burrow premises then resumes looking out over the horizon. Everything is tranquil so he decides a little afternoon snooze shouldn't hurt and lays down on his stomach. He rests his head on his arms then glances up at the sky before assuming that it is safe to nap.

Maylene then climbs higher up on her sentry post and continues scanning the skies.
