Faeya caught a millipede and shared it with Cloud Catcher

Carrying away the last remnant of the scorpion, Leaf partially hid under a nearby bush and ate the rest of her juicy prize in peace. With the scorpion devoured, she got up from the warm sand and waddled around looking for a new place to dig or an easy meal to make a grab for. With her pups due in a few days time she needed to make sure she was in the best condition.

Struggling along with her newly gained weight, she spotted her thinner sister Morning Glory shifting sand in a nearby hole searching for grubs. Since the development of her own pregnancy, Morning Glory had made little effort to try and evict Leaf and the two had constantly kept their distance away from each other.
Keeping her head down Leaf turned away and kept her mind focused on supporting her own pups. She knew it was likely that only one litter of pups would survive the first few days after birth and as hers were due first she was determined to keep the upper hand.

Stratus was foraging near Morning Glory. He could tell there was a little tension between the two sisters, and though he wanted the outcome to be good for both of the females, Morning Glory was his mate and he wanted what was best for her. He chrred to her, letting her know that he would support her, whatever her decision.

Hearing Stratus’s call, Morning Glory poked her head out of the foraging hole and pulled a long pink skink free from the sand. With the meal dangling down either side of her mouth she carried it over to her mate and dropped it at his feet showing her appreciation.

Faeya took up sentry as Nimbus and Scar began to forage.

Stratus chrred thanks to Morning Glory. He ate only part of the skink, and left the other part for her.

Nimbus chirped to the others. It was getting late.

Stratus looked towards the sky. It was getting late. He chirped to the others.

Morning Glory picked up the end of the skink that was lying on the sand and stood with it in her mouth next to Stratus. Hearing his reply call to Nimbus she scanned the local area looking for the other familiy members.

Scar and Faeya approached, their stomachs full.

Tisca ran over, Cloud Catcher following. They waited for the others.

Wandering over to Cloud Catcher, Morning Glory gently rubbed her head against him and dropped the small meal at his feet. She knew she should have eaten the remainder of the skink but lost her appetite at the site of her heavily pregnant sister waddling in to join the rest of the group.
‘Both set’s of pups could be supported, couldn’t they?’ she thought scanning the many sets of eyes looking back at her, doing the unthinkable might be her only option to ensure that only one set of pups survives.

Faeya, Scar, and Nimbus stared at the pregnant females, a little worried.

Cloud Catcher munched on the skink happily, unaware of the tension.
Stratus sat by Morning Glory, to try and provide some comfort.

Gently calling to the other members of the family, Morning Glory ignored the looks from her sister and turned to lead them back in the direction of the burrow.
