Roleplay - 19th October

Unaware of Linda fending Luna away from the pups, Tank has ventured a distance from the group. He has decided to go roving and is gradually making his way torwards Oreos territory. But first he focuses on getting in a good meal to help build up the strength he'll need if he plans on causing mischief and becoming sucessful today. Tank finds a promising foraging spot near a large camel thorn tree and starts to dig into the ground. He pulls up a large millipede, the perfect meal which should keep him going for the rest of the day. He drags it across the ground then eats it quickly.

Lancaster peeps to Buckeye, eagerly volunteering to babysit the pups then pads over to the burrow mouth and sits down.

Linda watches Luna's every move and protectively covers the pups. She won't let Luna near them as long as memories of Alice getting killed are fresh in memory.

Luna snarled at Linda and walked away. Fine.

Linda relaxes and makes soft chirps, trying to keep the litter calm. She's been waiting a long time to care of the litter, and now she may get to babysit them. She lays her head down, resting for now. She'll get some foraging in once the others leave.

Tank digs at the ground as he continues his advance towards Oreo's territory. He quickly scans the area for danger then gets back to foraging but can find nothing. It's still winter and food is still scarse. Despite it being winter, Tank is still in the mood to rove even if it means he'll have a difficult time trying to survive on his own.

Lancaster stands up on his hind legs and side steps to the front of the burrow entrance. He'll willingly protect the pups with his life from any form of danger.

Linda huddles the pups close to her, licking them to keep them warm, and lets them feed. Her stomach was growling, and she was hungry. Once the others leave she'll forage.

Keeko followed Buckeye to make sure she was okay. He chirps to her quietly.
Golly Gosh growls and tries to free himself from Miley, but without sucess.
Crash growls and watches Luna leave.

Jackie calms down a bit and watches Luna. She decides to forage today. Mainly because she was hungry and to keep and eye on things.

Snowflake sits by Jackie, also deciding to forage.

Linda can't hold back her hunger anymore. She gets up and comes above ground, barking for someone else to watch the pups while she forages. She moves a little bit away from the others and digs hungrily at the ground, unearthing grubs. She's still only in the early stages of her pregnancy, but she still has a larger appetite than normal right now. She forages aggressively as she looks for food. Aggressive eating habits are prehaps the only mental change she's experiencing so far. She eats what she finds, remembering that hse won't get to forage as much when babysitting.

Josephine hears Linda's call, barks in willing reply to take over but glances at Buckeye seeking her approval...

Linda keeps foraging, getting the needed food for herself, and her unborn litter. She's going to babysit today as long as Buckeye approves, unsure if she knows about her litter or not.

Tank points his nose towards the sky and takes in a huge whiff of air. The scent of the Oreos is becoming stronger he must be close to the Willows/Oreos border. Tank trots even closer to the border in high spirits. He hopes to get lucky while roving at the Oreos today, if not he'll just move on to another group.

Back at the babysitting burrow, Lancaster watches as Linda forages around the burrow. He's noticed her aggressive hunger but thinks nothing of it. He joins Josephine with watching over the pups while Linda forages. At the same time he keeps a watchful eye on Linda, making sure that she doesn't wander off too far from the burrow and if she starts to to, he'll warn her. Venturing away from the burrow and ending up alone could leave her vulnerable to predators. Lancaster glances at Buckeye unsure of how she would feel about leaving Linda behind with her newborn pups.

Linda stops foraging for now and sits by Buckeye, hoping she'll let her babysit today. The loss of Alice was tragic, and she was determined to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Tank crosses into Oreos territory with his heart racing and adrenaline pumping. He enjoys the thrill he gets when roving. He's only been roving a few times so he doesn't exactly know how to approach a desired female or group the right way. He's already learned a near fatal lesson with his brother Lancaster more than a month ago when they went roving to a wild group before joining the Willows and he doesn't want to have that nightmare repeated. Tank has to keep in mind that he'll need to be patient and sneaky if wants to mate with a female.

Lancaster heads below ground to check on the pups. He nuzzles each of them and lays next to them. The sight of Alice's dead body on the ground was hard to look at but Lancaster does his best not to let it bother him. He bond grooms the pups and provides them with warmth.

Linda stays above ground, hoping Buckeye trusts her enough to let her babysit the pups.

Finally ready to move, Buckeye sits up. She is upset, but a group needed its leader. She would overcome this, but it meant a closer eye on her subrdinates. She would allow the pregnant subordinates to watch her pups, hoping that fear of evition would prevent them of committing a crime like the one they just witnessed. Not sure yet of Luna's fate, Buckeye chirps, leading the family out foraging. She was hungry from her pregnancy.

Verniece and Hutch follow, trying to comfort Buckeye.

Glade decides to stay behind today and play with her new brothers and sisters.

Linda sees them off, happy to be given the responsibility of babysitting. She would never dare harm Buckeye's pups, but can she say the same for another subordinate's? She ignores the thought, hoping it doesn't come to that. She sees Glade stay behind. She'll help her forage in a moment.

Lancaster licks each of the pups on their foreheads. He hopes to be a father of his own litter of pups some day. He's been interested in mating with Josephine but still isn't ready. After what's happened this morning, the last thing Buckeye needs is another pregnant subordinate female and he doesn't want to risk Josephine's position in the group.

Watching Linda resume her duty, Josephine put her head down and slowly walked away from the burrow after Buckeye. She'd decided to forage closer to home for the day incase Linda needed to head away from the pups.

Linda digs up a millipede. After rubbing off the slime, she cuts it in half and gives one half to Glade before eating the other. She forages some more for herself and has enough to eat. She then goes below ground and enters the chamber with the pups, letting Lancaster take guard duty. She chirps, telling him Glade's staying too.

Lancaster nods, allowing Linda to take over caring for the pups. He heads above ground where he stands gaurd in front of the burrow mouth. He glances around realizing Tank is gone. He had remembered that his brother has been wanting to go roving for a while. He's worried that his brother had decided to go alone but Tank is a large male. Lancaster believes Tank can take care of himself. He just hopes Tank doesn't do anything stupid that could get himself injured or killed.

Linda lays down and wraps around the pups, keeping them warm and letting them feed. She lays her head down, facing the direction of the chamber's entrance. The more she's with Buckeye's newborn pups, the more she thinks about her own litter she's expecting. She hopes her litter lives.

Lancaster decides to catch up on some self grooming. He grooms his right shoulder removing a tick that had been embedded in his skin for quite some time. He hadn't really noticed it but the feeling of it being there was starting to annoy him.

Alice's dead body is starting to make her depressed. Her remains must be disposed of the correct way. She picks up the corpse and slowly takes it out of the burrow. She starts heading off to an open patch of sand close by.

Lancaster sees Linda emerge with Alice's dead body in her mouth. He sighs depressingly. The loss was tragic. Infintacide may be cruel but it helps to keep the group's numbers in check.
