Roleplay-6th of July 2009

This is where we can play the actual roleplay! I'll start:

A male named Keeko stared cautiously out of a bush. It had been sometime since he had had the company of others and he was always alert. He couldn't see any danger, so he began to forage, keeping a careful eye out for other meerkats.

Suddenly, he spotted a figure in the distance. It was Buckeye, an evicted female from a wild group. She looked dirty and very unattached. She slowly worked her way to Keeko until finally, she stopped about 10 feet away. Her eyes remained planted on him, and after several minutes of staring, she became comfortable with his prescence. She slowly made her way closer...

Keeko watched in confusion. He hadn't seen her before, but he could tell that she hadn't been in a mob like him in a while. He walked over to her and chirped questiongly (i don't think that is a word). If she had nowhere to go, maybe he could stay with her.

Buckeye approached Keeko and sniffed him curiously. Then, she began to groom him. She desperatley wanted his company and the chance to start and lead a new group. The signs looked very favorable for this female meerkat...

Keeko groomed Buckeye back. He was desperate for company also. When he was finished, he climbed atop of a bush to keep an eye out for predators.

Buckeye was very relieved now. She was finally accepted, and what's better is that it looks like she and Keeko are the beginning of a new group. As the day went by, the two became even closer, and by the end of the night, they had become mates. After a little more foraging, Keeko and Buckeye find a bolt hole and head down to sleep for the night.

Do you want Keeko to be dominant male? I wasn't going to make him one but i don't have a problem with it.

Keeko followed Buckeye without question. He knew if he stayed with her he would have a partner, and maybe even become the leader of his own mob. But he also knew that they would need more members for the mob to become successful, but he pushed the thought aside.

Yea Keeko can be DM, he helped found the group after all, he deserves that right lol...

As the two tuck together in the safety of the burrow, it is safe to say that a new group, the Willows, has been germinated. And what's even better, Buckeye is pregnant. If they are able to recruit several new members, it would be a stable enough enviornment in which Buckeye could deliver her pups. For the happy couple, dawn couldn't come fast enough...

I think we can end the day like this? Up to u...

We can end the day here, but then you might have wait for the other groups to catch up. I'd like to keep the groups all on the same day, cause if theres groups that are, say, five days ahead of the others, it gets confusing if their are fights and stuff.
If you don't mind waiting, or get a few more characters in the other mobs, we can end here if u like

ok cool... do u think we have enough members now? Sammi joined the Willows... and how is the progress with the other groups going?

I think the Willows have just enough, now there are four. The other groups have at least two different members in each (except the twizzlers) but they mght be a little longer. If you like we can roleplay on this day for a little longer?

yea thats fine with me, we should at least introduce the new members... should we go back to the part when Buckeye and Keeko are foraging together and forget the part about going down in the burrow for the night?

OK.
Keeko was foraging and he succesfully dug up a large millipede. he broke it in half and passed one over to Buckeye. He was glad to have her around, life wasn't so difficult when you had a partner. He hoped that they grew into a strong and healthy group.

Buckeye gratiously accepted and consumed the millipede, and then began to groom her new partner. Her pregnancy and the promise of a new group delighted the couple. As they began foraging again, their constant chirps alerted them of each other's presence. Suddenly, Buckeye noticed something in the distance and raised an alarm call. It looked like other meerkats, which could be a real problem for this small gang...

Not far away, Verniece stood on sentry with her little brother, Hutch at her feet. He was peeping excitedly, chasing his tail and she yipped to him. He must be quiet, in case there were threats around.
She suddenly spotted Buckeye and Keeko, and backed up slightly, tucking Hutch under her belly. They'd been spotted.

Although curious, Buckeye wasn't going to let these meerkats ruin her gains. Followed by Keeko, she started an attack, war dancing toward the two distant figures. However, as she approached them, she saw how young and frightened they were. She haulted the advance, and began approaching the two youngsters. No longer viewing them as enemies, Buckeye was now seeing Verniece and Hutch as possible group members...

Verniece huddles to the ground, beginning to back off. She was terrified. She took Hutch in her mouth, about to make a dash for it when they stopped.
She stared, watching, and bobbing her head slowly. There were only two, seemingly alone, and not treating them as a threat.
Slowly, but still wary, she places Hutch between her feet and chirped to them.

As Buckeye approached the lonesome pair, her dreams had been answered. Here were two new recruits to her ranks. As she circled around the youngsters, she chirped friendly. Asserting her dominance and ensuring that the two were safe, Buckeye scented the two with her neck glands. Then, after sniffing the two for another minute, she began grooming them. Picking up Hutch in her mouth, Buckeye led the group into the shades of the Kalahari trees...

Verniece tensed up, but allowed herself to be scent-marked and rolled over submissively. She groomed Buckeye back, thanking her for her kindness and following her, not wanting to leave her younger brother's side.
Hutch peeped, curious about the new meerkats but they seemed friendly so he allowed himself to be carried.

In the shade, the 4 continued to groom and warmed up to each other's prescence. Seeing the two new members as her own offspring, Buckeye would made every effort to keep her new clan safe. With pups on the way, Buckeye's dream of family was closer than ever. She began grooming Keeko, and after several minutes, led the Willows gang out for some mid-day foraging

Keeko greeted the new members excitedly. Two young meerkats would make valuble editions to the team. He followed Buckeye as she led them out to forage, and decided it would be nice if he showed Hutch how to forage. he quickly scented the floor and dug up a small beetle, which he handed over to Hutch.

While keeping an eye out for danger, Buckeye scavenged near a tree. Verniece was near by, and as she approached, she groomed her affectionately. The four were becoming really close. Buckeye then began to scent mark the surrounding area. She needed to establish a territory in which her family could grow and prosper. With dusk setting in, she led her clan to find a suitable home for the night.

Splash walks on... his family was killed, what would she do now?

Just then, she has a glimmer of hope as she spots the Willows.
