Roleplay-6th of July 2009

Verniece follows Buckeye and Keeko, keeping Hutch close to her. He was like a son to her, she may be young but she was also very protective and motherly. She was tired of their journey, and also very relieved.
Hutch followed closely, not wanting to leave Verniece's side. He suddenly spots another meerkat in the distance - a pup, like him. He looks up at Verniece then yips and bounds away, wanting a closer look.
Verniece looks down, and sees Hutch is not there. She whips around and sees him heading off in the direction of a lone meerkat, a young one by the looks. She yips to Keeko and Buckeye, ctching up with her younger brother.

Is Splash the pup?

She's a black-splotched pup

Buckeye, seeing the group's two youngest members running off, sounded the alarm call. She and Keeko began to chase after Verniece and Hutch, trying to ensure their safety. As they approached the two, Buckeye stopped, noticing a small, black-spotted pup, huddling under a bush. She was curious, and after scent-marking the two youngsters, went over to investigate...

Verniece peeps to Buckeye, apologizing. She couldn't let her brother run off; she looks at Splash curiously.
Hutch yips to Splash and smiles at her.

Buckeye groomed Verniece affectionately. Then, she began looking at Hutch and Splash together. Buckeye was happy to add another member to her group. Seeing the frightened pup, Buckeye sniffed her. Then, she pulled Splash to her and gave the pup a cuddle. She had accepted her as her own. Buckeye's maternal instincts were kicking in, and with new pups on the way, she needed play mates and babysitters. As she looked onto her extended family, Buckeye couldn't be any more happier.

Verneice smiled at Buckeye, watching Splash. She chrrs to the young pup and nuzzled her softly.

Hutch bounded up to Splash, squeaking happily.

Splash spots a pup running towards her, and dashes towards it. As she runs, she looks like a blurry dark brown. When she stops before the pup, it sees, though, that there are patches of black on her fur.

She chrrs as she is cuddled.

Keeko saw Hutch run after the mystry meerkat and raced after him in alarm. What was he doing? When he finally caught up, he saw the young pup and sighed with relief. Then he flicked his tail, thinking about what to do wiht her. He soon decided that she could join the group too. Gently, he picked her up, and headed towards the burrow. He wanted to get there as soon as possible.

Splash stays still as she is carried.

As the group followed Keeko back to the burrow, Buckeye released an alarm call. Up ahead in the tree lay a martial eagle waiting to take a vulnerable meerkat for supper. Buckeye quickly rounded up her charges and led them into the safety of the trees. Buckeye stared at the eagle, and the eagle stared right back...

Splash whimpers a little. What was going to happen?

Buckeye attempts to lead the group around the eagle. As they move silently along the sand, the eagle spots them and swoops down. Buckeye sounds the alarm call, and leads the group to a nearby bolthole. She keeps an eye on the eagle's movements, and makes sure everyone reaches the bolt hole in time. However, she is risking her own life...

Verniece gasps, and quick as a flash she takes Hutch up into her mouth and darts into the safety of the burrow.
Hutch yips, he doesn't know what's going on.

Making sure that Verniece and Hutch are safely tucked inside, Buckeye checks the area for the hawk. It's circling high above, and she, Keeko, and Splash are still above ground. Unfortuantely, 50 feet of sand stand between her and her two group members. She risks the dangers and starts her journey to the other side to save them...

Verniece places Hutch in the safety of the burrow, then dangerously comes out, worried about the other members. She sees Buckeye heading for Keeko and Splash, and she looks up at the hawk nervously.

Keeko joined Buckeye in tidying the burrow. He had been afraid that eagle would have taken one of them, but they had all made it. Exhausted, he disapeared below to have a goo night's sleep.

I'm going to start a new day soon, I'll just check where the other mobs are.

After making the last minute improvements to their new home, Buckeye settled down next to her family. She would join Keeko in the burrow soon, but she wanted to take one last glance at the sunset before she headed down for the night. Now pregnant, Buckeye has a stable enough group to give birth in. Soon, Splash, Hutch, and Verniece will have new pups to play with. For now though, everything is going great for Buckeye.

Verniece heads into the burrow, tired from today's events. She gently picks up Hutch, who has fallen asleep beside her and brings him inside and into a chamber to rest. Today has changed there lives - They now have family, a growing on at that. They were safe now. With a soft sigh, she fell asleep.
